Extending topper life...

Hi,
How long does everyone's topper last?
I'm a daily wearer of human hair toppers (Bella/Amber) and find they get really dry and start becoming damaged after around 4/5 months.

I wash my topper every week to ten days, sulphate free shampoo and deep conditioner, air dry and then flat iron on the lowest heat. I also use serums regularly. (I only use heat once washed not every day)

I've had some success with Bambu silicone mix conditioner particularly if I put it on my topper then into a plastic bag and left in hot water for an hour.
I've also started using olaplex no:3 before washing in the hope it will help but too early to tell yet!

What does everyone do to keep their toppers looking smooth and nice?
I read somewhere a HH wig/piece should last around a year so I feel like I'm ruining them too quickly!
 
I use a leave in oil mist, One’n Only brand is what I’m currently using. I lightly spray my toppers at the end of the day. I don’t wash as often as you thought, I don’t wear them daily either. Do you use a heat protectant? That might help too.
 
Hi, thanks for replying, and the suggestion. I tried a tresseme heat protestant a while back but felt it didn't make much difference. Don't know if it was just the brand not too good.
I'm trying to wash less as I know that's what kills them in the end! Managed to get to two weeks this time.
I'll look for a good oil mist, thanks!
