hereditary hair loss

Hi everyone. It's so great to be able to read your stories and know that I'm not alone on this journey. My great-grandma, grandma, and mom all have androgenic alopecia. My hair began falling out and thinning when I was 20 years old and I have used women's rogaine for the past 18 years. The rogaine seemed to slow the hair loss but never stopped it completely. Three years ago I began using fiber building powder to camouflage my hair loss. It worked great for a couple years, but it was very messy! The fiber builder powder covered everything in my bathroom and I was constantly cleaning it! In the last year my hair loss progressed to the point that the fiber building powder was no longer able to cover my widening areas of my scalp. I began to notice that people were staring at my thin hair when talking to me and this was a big blow to my confidence as a woman. I began researching other options and came across some videos on youtube that lead me to the Uniwigs website.

I am new to toppers and would love to try new ones! My first topper was the Amber Silk topper 14" 130% density with bangs. I went with this option because I am new to toppers and wasn't sure I would be able to get the hair line to look right, but with bangs I didn't have to worry about the hairline as much. I would like to try a topper without bangs and figure out how to make it look as natural as possible. Anyways thought it might be fun to play with a new topper, work out how to style it, and share any tips and tricks I find with others. I love reading everyone's stories and introductions and it really helps to read that many people are facing hair loss. It's so great when everyone shares tips and reviews. It really has helped my confidence levels once I began wearing the topper. Before I felt like people would be staring at my hair when talking to me and now I think they are focused on my face instead, which is great! I think I would like to try a 16" longer length topper.
