Hi Everyone! I just received the Emily mono base topper I won in the September Giveaway! Super exciting!
First off the topper was gorgeous coming out of the box. Uniwigs was really gracious and offered to custom make this Emily for me in Natural Black 16inch 130 % density because the brown colored Emily offered in the giveaway was too light for my bio color to blend with. I did not ask, they suggested it which was extremely thoughtful and just goes to show they try to satisfy their customers! It was totally worth the wait of a month for it to arrive. So that is why it took a month for me to write this review.
Initially the first thing I noticed was how light the topper felt. I posted pictures of it on right out of the box. The hair was shiny, smooth, and very straight. The topper had no odor and the natural black color blended really nicely with my bio hair. I wear a silk topper daily (Amber with bangs) and this mono base felt so light compared to that! It was extremely comfortable and light weight. There are four pressure clips on the Emily and they securely hold the topper in place. It came with a center part. I prefer a side part and that was easily achieved. I just used my flat iron to smooth the side part down. I posted photos of before and after I applied concealer to the part so everyone could compare. Either way I think it looks great, but I personally (and everyone has their own personal preference and I respect that) I like to add concealer to the part on my mono base to make a lighter colored part. That is the only alteration I made to Emily. I placed it about an inch back from my natural hairline and blended a little bit of my bio hair into the front part. I tried to get pictures so everyone could see. I was really impressed on how flat it clipped onto my head and how natural the front hairline looked. I have another other mono base topper (upgraded Claire) and it does not lay as nice as the Emily does!! I have to "glue" the Claire to lay flat with Got2b hair gel, but I don't need to do that with the Emily!! Not having to "glue" saves tons of time for me and no gel to wash out of hair later - it's a win-win for me!
I am a big fan of silk toppers because I like they way they look like your natural scalp, but the mono base Emily has made me fall in love with the lightness and comfort of the mono base! A little concealer on the part and it was good to go for me. I thought the concealer made it look really natural.
I hope the pictures help everyone! I know I love to look at the toppers on real customers and those really help me when I'm trying to decide on a new topper.
